Port Blair is the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and largest town and municipal council in Andaman district. Port Blair is the main entry point to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and total population is about 1 lack. Port Blair is a beautiful city with great and beautiful beaches. Port Blair is famous for widely known Cellular Jail (prison), where most of political prisoner were sent to spend their lifetime before Independence of India. Cellular Jail is developed as a tourist hub and is quite famous among travelers. Other Travel attraction includes Corbyn’s Cove, Japanese Bunkers made during World War II, Anthropological Museum, Samudrika Naval Museum and beautiful sea-line and beaches. October to March is the best time to visit Port Blair.
Port Blair is connected to all Indian Metro Cities by air. Airport is located 2km south of the main city. It is advisable to check for flights in advance because no flights are regular and schedule changes are normal. Other option to reach Port Blair is by Boats or Ships. Ships are easily available from Chennai and this beautiful journey takes about fifty to sixty hours. Helicopters are easily available to travel other islands of Andaman and Nicobar.
